This week marks NAFCU's annual Regulatory Compliance School. For those credit unions with attendees, be supportive. The week is anything but a junkett. The days are long. The tests are difficult. And the material is dense.
NAFCU's attorneys will be teaching at the school, and I'm out this week...likely changing diapers. For best results, NAFCU members should send compliance questions to our general mailbox: compliance (at) nafcu.org. Please be patient with us this week, and think happy thoughts for your coworkers who are jumping into the deep-end of the compliance "swimming pool."

You may have heard that the FMLA's requirements have been tweaked this year. I'm not holding myself out to be an FMLA guru, believe me. But here's always a good tip. The Department of Labor is a great place to start with employment law issues. Here's a link to their FMLA page, which they update when necessary. And here's a link to their FMLA fact sheet. It is a concise, updated guide to all things FMLA.
For those taking the tests this week, I wish you "good luck"! I remember all too well what this week was like for me... the butterflies in the stomach, sleepless nights, missing out on the site-seeing, etc. But, it is so worth it when you get that certificate and notification that you've passed the course!
Hang in there and best of luck!
